Shine Like A Firefly!

Have you ever seen a light display as fireflies light up the darkness around you? As kids growing up in Pennsylvania, we would scrounge up glass jars and run all over the place trying to catch these flying wonders glowing in the night. We would ask each other, “How can these bugs shine without electricity?” They made light effortlessly glow from their magnificent little bodies. God’s creation was marvelous to see.

Like the superior Creator of this incredible beetle, it has a flashing mechanism that is far more powerful than an incandescent light bulb. A light bulb only creates about 10% energy while using up to 90% of its energy creating heat to produce light. But God’s created little firefly is just the opposite. It uses less than 10% in heat and over 90% light efficiency. (Juanita Kretschmar at shalomadventure.com)

We can learn that just like this amazing little wonder, God doesn’t want us spending so much energy trying harder to shine for Him. He wants us to simply go about our daily routine and shine effortlessly for Him. Be natural, be the unique and amazing wonder our God created you to be.

It is in times of great darkness and chaos that light and order shine the brightest. Now is our greatest opportunity in the earth to shine with hope, peace, and joy! There are many who are running around in the dark trying to find and capture the light. They are looking for hope for the future, peace of mind and joy to fill their hearts.

So, shine. Because as others capture your light-Jesus, He will capture their hearts and they will become captivated by the Lover of their souls. Their lives will be forever transformed as you shine for Christ. Shine for all the world to see, and as you shine you make His name famous. Psalm 72:17, "So that his name may be honored forever! May the fame of his name spring forth! May it shine on, like the sunshine! In him all will be blessed to bless others, and may all the people bless the One who blessed them."
