JUST WAIT!

You wait. You wait to get your driver’s license, you study and wait for your diploma from school, you wait for help when your car breaks down, you wait for your wedding day, you wait for pregnancy test results, you wait for the call from the doctor about your recent health scare, you wait to step into your destiny, whatever that means. Life is filled with times of waiting.

You may feel like this year has been a time of waiting. Psalm 27:14, “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” (NKJV)

The important question is, how do you wait? How do you respond in the waiting? Times of waiting test us. The Passion Translation says, “Here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Don’t give up; don’t be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord. Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting—for he will never disappoint you!”

We are instructed to do several things; don’t give up, nor be impatient. We are to be entwined as one with the Lord, we are to be brave and courageous and don’t lose hope. Lastly, we are to keep on waiting-because our God will never disappoint us.

I don’t believe that I’m the only one that has had to learn to relax in the waiting. Trust in our good, good Father for His timing for things. We are learning to trust His faithfulness and wisdom as we seemingly “mark time” or stand in place marching, but, going nowhere. We bide our time. We wait as people move past us, hurrying here and there, doing this and that for God.

Our waiting is not in vain. Christ waited until the appointed time to put on human flesh and live as a man. He waited to be born, to die and to rise again. In waiting He experienced great reward-the human race. All mankind experiences forgiveness of sin and relationship with God is restored, all because Christ waited on the Father’s time.

The disciples’ obedience to wait was rewarded with supernatural power from God. What were they waiting for? They had never been in such a position before.

Like the early disciples, we are being challenged to position our hearts to wait for something we’ve never seen nor experienced before. Our willingness to wait on the Lord-to wait for His supernatural empowering and timing to move forward in following God will result in many lives being eternally impacted.

Join with me as we live out Romans 8:5, “But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.” (NASB) Just wait! Wait for Him. Wait for His timing! Draw closer to Him in the waiting. It’s the greatest season of your life!
