JESUS WILL MANIFEST HIMSELF TO US

Writer: Bill BurkhardtBill Burkhardt

“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him” (John 14:21).

As we walk in this lifestyle of joy the Lord promises to progressively reveal Himself to us. Jesus says:

“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who

loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him

(John 14:21).

The only way to really know someone is to spend time with them. So, as the Father and the Son are “making their home with us” (John 14:23), we are getting to know them. As we grow in intimacy with the Lord, He gives us a progressively more accurate revelation of Himself.

The word “manifest” in John 14:21 means to make known or to disclose. In this verse, Jesus is promising to make Himself known to us so we can really know Him. This is good news because we cannot come to a complete or accurate knowledge of the Lord without His help. I have found the Lord is actually better than I think He is and better than I feel He is. The Lord is who He says He is. God’s Word is my source to help me come to an accurate knowledge of Him. But I also need the Lord to illuminate His Word to me.

One of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to shine light on the very Word that He inspired. Jesus said the Holy Spirit will “guide you into all truth” (John 16:13). Jesus also said the Holy Spirit will “take of Mine and declare it to you” (John 16:15). The word “declare” in this verse means to disclose or make known, similar to the word “manifest” in John 14:21. The Holy Spirit shines light on Jesus so we can see Him in His full glory.

To know Him is to love Him. The more the Lord discloses Himself to us, the more we are enabled to love Him.

Lord thank you that you are making your home in us. Thank you for increasing knowledge of who you are.  We’re asking You to show us Your face. We declare it is our time to see Jesus. We want to behold You in ways we’ve never known before. Holy Spirit shine light on Jesus today so we can see Him in His full glory. Halleluya!
