GREAT ENJOYMENT AND AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT

Writer: Father's Heart Ministry Father's Heart Ministry

“I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.” Psalm 40:8

Consider the awesome wonder of creation. The beauty and the design of heaven and earth is a marvel of creative genius. Artists are inspired by creation’s beauty, and scientists are motivated by discovery of nature’s design. Creation obviously was not something haphazardly slapped together by a couple of frivolous partners. How did Father and Son create such a masterpiece and still maintain an atmosphere of delight in their relationship?

The Father and Son are an example to us. They demonstrate that in a relationship, it is possible to have both great enjoyment and amazing accomplishment. In fact, the love and intimacy that existed between Father and Son was necessary for the Father to progressively disclose his creative design to His Son. Full disclosure of the Father’s dream was possible because Jesus was so close to His Dad. Jesus instinctively knew how to carry out His Father’s creative design because He was inspired by His Father’s love and delight.

In Psalm 40:8, Jesus said, “I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.” The Hebrew word for “law” in that verse means “divine instruction.” Jesus was simultaneously filled with divine delight and divine instruction to carry out His Father’s will. Joy filled Jesus’ emotions at the same time that divine knowledge filled His mind. The Father’s joy empowered Him, and the disclosure of the Father’s plan equipped Him to carry out His Father’s will.

We see joy and creative partnership between the Father and His Son also pictured in Hebrews 1:8-10. The Father is speaking to the Son: “But to the Son He says: Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.’ And: ‘You, LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.’”

These verses describe the heart of Jesus. He loved righteousness is a phrase that describes a Son whose heart is fully synchronized with His Father’s heart. Think about this: He was full of more joy and gladness than any person who has ever lived. Jesus was full of joy, full of love for His Father’s will, and therefore full of ability to be His Father’s creative partner (vs.10).

Jesus, I want to be a son/daughter whose heart is fully synchronized with my Heavenly Father’s heart. Thank you for filling me and anointing me with joy. Thank you for filling me with love and delight to do my Father’s will, and for all the ability and empowerment to be my Heavenly Father’s creative partner in what He is doing in enlarging His kingdom in the earth. Thank you that I am experiencing great enjoyment and amazing accomplishment in my partnership with Him!
